Justice & Development Party (AKP) MP from Istanbul and PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan's foreign policy adviser Egemen Bagis said on Tuesday that the government would not give up its European Union (EU) bid.
Addressing the Platform of Communications Professionals, Bagis informed the audience about Turkey's EU process and its repercussions on the Turkish-US relations.
He said that there were no problems in Turkey-EU relations, adding that 'Prime Minister and AKP had promised Turkish people prior to Nov. 3rd (2002) general elections that the EU negotiations would have the top-priority when AKP party came to power. We haven't given up our promise and our willingness regarding Turkey's EU bid.'"
