"Villers Reminds Turks Conquered Istanbul on May 29

The French Movement Party (FMP) leader Philippe de Villers who carries on a campaign opposing Turkey's European Union (EU) membership has also not hesitated from even using May 29, the date that the EU Constitution referendum will be held, as a means of negative propaganda.
De Villers in a statement issued following President Jacques Chirac's decision that referendum would be held on May 29, reminded that May 29 is the Turk's anniversary of the conquering of Istanbul in 1453 and that this shows, 'The Turkish and EU Constitution debates are related with each other.' "
