The majority of Turks have a positive image of the European Union, and nearly two-thirds of Turkish citizens support Turkey's accession to the 25-nation bloc, a European Union survey revealed.
Only 12 percent of those surveyed said that EU membership would be a bad thing, according to the Eurobarometer survey, which was conducted between Oct. 2 and Nov. 8, 2004 in EU member and candidate countries. For the first time a national report on Turkey was produced together with national reports on the 25 EU members and candidate countries."
