'The best part of my life'

"'The best part of my life'
By By John Leonidou

HARDLY any former pupil of the English School, or many others, would not look back on his or her school years and shed a fond smile. Since 1900, the English School has carved its mark on the history of the island and has nurtured most of the top brass in the professional spheres of Cyprus.

The head of the English School Parents Association, Magda Nicholson, herself a pupil at the school from 1966 to 1973, says that the school has forever been placed in her heart.
The English School has had a wonderful effect on my life and a big part of my soul and with an independent view I can honestly say that as a teenager it was a unique experience. There was no other school at that time which offered that type of education and we were, as we are also now, one step ahead of every other school.

Turkish Cypriot journalist Metin Munir also has fond memories of the school, saying that the English School, of which he was a pupil from 1955 to 1961, was the best experience of his life."
