There is no doubt that the result of the negotiations held between the EU and Turkey in December 2004 is a significant success for the AKP government and also represents new hope for the full membership of Turkey in EU in the coming decade.
Amongst all the addressed mutually-beneficial future prospects of Turkey in the EU, Turkey�s Muslim identity and its own experiences since 1920s can provide a road map for the EU- for better understanding Muslim societies which would come in useful in the formulation of its foreign policy."
