Turkish elections: Erdogan demands recount after Istanbul defeat

President Erdogan is to contest more than 300,000 votes in Istanbul, which his party lost to the main opposition in local elections. The defeat of Mr Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Istanbul was the most scalding in a string of urban losses, in which the group ceded control of almost all of Turkey’s major cities including Ankara on Sunday.
