The Turk has no friend but the Turk
Turkey's ruling party is hoping relentless conspiracy-laden rhetoric will drive voters its way.

“Do you know what their aim is? They want to weaken Turkey, to divide it, disintegrate it, and then swallow it. We will not allow this,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan thundered in a televised interview on Tuesday. In speech after speech, rally after rally, Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu have unleashed a flood of conspiracy theories to rally support ahead of Sunday’s crucial general election. Faced with a small but significant slide in its poll ratings, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) claims that Turkey’s domestic and foreign enemies have united in a dark coalition to drag the country into chaos.
