European intellectuals call on EU to revitalize ties with Turkey to stop its democratic backsliding
The European Union should revive its efforts to revitalize its “ailing yet increasingly strategic” relations with Turkey, a group of European intellectuals and former policymakers have said, arguing that embedding the country within the European family will help stop its democratic backsliding and help the EU and Turkey better deal with mounting challenges in the Middle East.
