The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has based its economic, social and cultural policy on creating cities that are devoid of green, mostly as part of an effort to maximize the profits of its closest allies -- businessmen in the construction sector -- and apparently its own members, but the cost of this will be deadly for İstanbul, academics who wrote for a recent publication on the possible consequences of İstanbul's mega-projects for the city say.
