“Land of the Turks”
It feels weird writing this column because I know, with study abroad trips or mission trips or family trips or whatever, everyone probably did something this summer worth writing a column about. Nonetheless, I couldn’t be more excited to talk about an experience which will forever be unique throughout my life. Early in June, I decided to finally use what money I had been saving and take my first solo backpacking trip to another country. After throwing up a map and scanning the world (you wouldn’t believe how hard it was to pick a country—I almost just threw darts), I decided to book a flight into Istanbul, Turkey.
