Erdoğan continues to polarize along ethnic, sectarian lines
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has publicly pointed out that Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is an Alevi and that the presidential candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş is of Zaza ethnic background, in what many see as a new level of the prime minister's polarizing rhetoric.
