Cyprus: same old, same old

The latest round of talks aimed at reunifying Cyprus is becoming seriously unstuck.

This summer marks the 40th anniversary of the division of the island. Four decades apart is a very long time. Yet despite the countless failed efforts that have taken place over the years, there is still hope that the island can be reunited. This hope does not come from the islanders -- most Greek and Turkish Cypriots lost hope or never wanted reunification in the first place a long time ago. Rather, this hope comes from the international community, which does not want a divided island.
