HSYK proposals trigger controversy

The government's proposed changes to the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) have sparked a debate on judicial independence and Turkey's EU accession.
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) proposed the new HSYK law at the beginning of January.
