Ghost towns of the Nebraska Panhandle
Angora — Take route 385 about 15 miles north of the city of Bridgeport.
As with nearly all the other towns in this story, the railroad was crucial to Angora. The town was named for the Turkish city of Ankara. Today, Ankara has more than 4 million people, while Angora is unincorporated, with only a post office in operation.
