Modern world unkind to mosques in Istanbul

The tiles of the famous Çinili (Tiled) Mosque in Istanbul’s Üsküdar have been destroyed because of a digital clock and mufti notices hung on the wall. Meanwhile, the historic tiles of Mimar Sinan’s Valide-i Atik Mosque, which were stolen during a restoration process, have been replaced with kitchen tiles.
