Turkey considers sanctions against Syria

Turkey is preparing the way for possible sanctions on its neighbour Syria, in a move likely to increase the pressure on President Bashar al-Assad to step down.
In comments to journalists in New York on Tuesday night, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, said the imposition of fresh sanctions by Ankara – on top of the US and EU measures already in place – was now being discussed with Washington.
