ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Reiterating its demand for education in one’s mother tongue, the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, or BDP, marked the new school year Monday with renewed support for an NGO’s one-week boycott of the educational system.
In a protest Monday at Galatasaray Square in Istanbul’s Taksim district, BDP members and supporters gave an overview of the Kurdish alphabet and read a press release in Kurdish, demanding their right to be educated in the language and renewing their support for the school boycott called for Wednesday by the Kurdish Education and Language Movement, or TZP-Kurdi."
