According to Star newspaper, during the meeting with speaker of the Canadian parliament Noel Kincella, Shahin voiced his concert over the adoption of the resolution on 'Armenian genocide' by the parliament of this country in 2004. The speaker of the Turkish parliament noted that such resolutions cannot serve the strengthening of the Canadian-Turkish relations, saying such historical issues must be studied by historians, rather than politicians."
