Bulgaria, as a European Union member state, supported the idea of closer ties and co-operation between Cyprus and Turkey, Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov told Cyprus news agency KNA on October 7 2009, ahead of his October 9 and10 visit to Cyprus."
