"Cyprus FM Kyprianou had a meeting with the British Minister for Europe Mrs Caroline Flint

The British Minister for Europe at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mrs Caroline Flint, who was in Cyprus for an official visit, has expressed Britain's readiness to support in every way possible the process for the solution of the Cyprus problem. In statements after a meeting she held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Markos Kyprianou, Mrs Flint said that it is important that Turkey fulfills its obligations towards the European Union in 2009. She described the meeting as very useful and noted that they discussed the progress made in the cooperation between the two countries, in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding. Regarding the economy, the British Minister highlighted the need to further enhance the already strong economic ties between the two countries both on the bilateral level as well as in the framework of the European Union and at the G20. Concluding Mrs Flint said that she looked forward to her next visit to Cyprus and to the continuation of the good bilateral relations in the current year."
