"UN denies paper’s claims that Turks blocked Downer

UNFICYP has dismissed as bogus reports that Special Adviser of the Secretary-General Alexander Downer was prevented from walking over to the Turkish Cypriot end of the Ledra Street checkpoint.
Downer was at Ledra Street on Monday to review the second phase of refurbishment works after the crossing was opened in April last year. He was escorted by officials of the UNDP – Partnership for the Future project, in charge of the works."
