[HH] The Ottomans recognized tulips as important but didn’t grow them in gardens as late as the beginning of the 16th century, until Sultan Suleyman Kanuni directed the planting of tulips at Topkapi Palace in 1526. [HH] The Greater Istanbul Municipality recently released a book titled 'Lale Guzellemesi - In praise of the tulip.' It has nearly 200 pages in Turkish and English about the tulip, its importance in Turkish culture, the various types and personal feelings associated with them"
