When you look at Turkey today it seems as if there is a concrete division between the secularists and the Islamists. Just for the sake of argument we can say that the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) represents the former, and the ruling Justice and Development party represents the latter. Judging by the bellicose verbal war currently being waged between these two camps, it appears as if the CHP is less worried about democracy and more worried about secularism. The AKP, on the other hand, appears to be less worried about secularism and more worried about democracy."
