"An Overview: EU’s Commitments on Northern Cyprus – How realistic? Fatma Yilmaz Thursday , 06 December 2007 Long-lasting Cyprus issue has been off the agenda during 2007 due to several reasons related to the internal politics as well as EU-Turkey relations. However, it seems that the issue in deadlock will find a ground to be discussed once again since the early beginning of 2008. Main reasons behind this expectation are that both Turkey and the EU are about to pass through relatively uneasy periods because of their engagement with internal issues and also Turkey expresses its decisiveness to resume the issues on foreign affairs. The outcome of this decisiveness is actually on the way. Firstly, during a meeting with authorities of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in October, I got information that the Ministry has worked on a new approach about property issue in Cyprus. Accordingly, the Ministry has carried on the coordination of the planned approach. Moreover, there have recently been rumours about the fact that Ankara has been in a preparation period for a new comprehensive road map on Cyprus issue."
