"Court adjourns ‘Hannibal of Ankara’ trial for deficiency in judicial records
An Ankara court has adjourned the trial of a man charged with killing two people, dismembering the body of one of them and feeding its limbs to his dog, due to the absence of key documents in judicial records.
The head of Ankara's 7th Criminal Court, Mesut Öztürk, ruled on Thursday that the hearing of Özgür Dengiz -- dubbed the "Hannibal of Ankara" in the Turkish media due to the grisly nature of his alleged deeds -- be adjourned to a later date so that missing documents could be acquired. Dengiz's attorney, Özkan Atalay, and the parents of victim Sedat Erzurumlu were present during the hearing, as was the wife of victim Cafer Er. Abbas İnan, a Mamak Municipality worker whom Dengiz previously wounded and confessed to having attempted to kill, was also present."
