"UNDP’s Derviş: Turkey needs at least 7 pct growth rate
United Nations Development Program (UNDP) President Kemal Derviş has said Turkey should aim for higher economic growth rates.
Derviş said Turkey should not settle for an average 5 percent growth rate in the coming 10 years. 'Turkey needs at least a 7 or 8 percent economic growth rate,' he said at the international 'Competition Agenda for GAP [Southeastern Anatolia Project] Region' conference yesterday. Derviş said this is the only way for Turkey to solve its economic and social problems. Derviş stated that Turkey has been very successful in macroeconomic goals such as growth, interest rates, foreign currency reserves and debt ratio."
