In line with the belief held by a number of social anarchists in Canada that a 'tamed' social democracy is the best (or maybe least worst) backdrop to libertarian struggles, here is a short article I've borrowed on Turkey's bid for membership in the European Union. I gained these insights courtesy of Foreign Policy Watch an American blog which writes from a liberal point of view. There are some problems from popular opinion with 39% of citizens of the EU-25 supporting and 48% in opposition. Turkey's interference with free speech has also been an issue for Brussels."
