Turkey's top military leaders boycotted President 'Abdullah Gul's first reception at the Cankaya Palace on Wednesday, sending a clear message that tension between the military establishment and the Islamist president remain. Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit and the top commanders have informed Gul that they will also miss Friday's reception as they will be away from Ankara on inspection tours to military units until next Sunday, the Turkish daily The New Anatolian reported."
