"PM tells envoys: EU must let Turkey in
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said the European Union must allow Turkey to join in order to avoid becoming an 'address for the clash of civilizations' and warned the West that the spread of Islamophobia offended the world's Muslims. Erdoğan, addressing foreign ambassadors in Ankara at iftar, the dinner that breaks the day-long fast observed during Ramadan, on Wednesday evening, also rejected that his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) was a 'religiously oriented.' He said the party would consider such a label an 'insult' and insisted that the AK Party is a 'conservative democratic party.'"
