If there is no rain this summer, Istanbul can only make it to November. Reservoirs are already below 40 percent full Cisterns were known from early on in history. But what makes the Byzantine cisterns so special is their size, number and the fact that they have been so solidly built that many of them are still extant Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Kadir Topbas is just as concerned as anyone, if not more so, about the growing evidence that his beloved Istanbul will be subjected to drought conditions in the coming years."
