Why did this Greek Cypriot move meet such a reaction as the South’s foreign policy has always been against the lifting of the isolations?

I do not believe it was a correct strategy to reject Greek Cypriot President Papadopoulos’ proposal to meet, particularly when the reason the Turkish Cypriot side gives for this move was not something concrete.
Papadopoulos stated last week that it was time to hold the long-due meeting with Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat, suggesting that they meet before the end of July."
