As the Green Zone cleans up from a daring attack, Zerin Elci and Paul De Bendern of Reuters are reporting that a major figure in the Turkish military is calling for military action in northern Iraq: “Ankara has said it reserves the right under international law to send troops into northern Iraq to tackle the rebels if Iraq and Washington continue to disregard its calls for action.
Political analysts say Turkey is unlikely to mount a full-blown invasion of northern Iraq, but with elections approaching, the government could authorize cross-border commando raids or perhaps air strikes against PKK targets.”"
