"Ottoman-era tulip traditions still popular in İstanbul
Like other Saturdays, this Saturday will be a workday for some and holiday for others.
A loaf of bread, a bottle of milk and a newspaper will be delivered to our doors. Kids will rush to the TV as soon as they get up from their beds, watching programs, songs and commercials. However, this Saturday will be different. Today millions of flowers will meet us in the streets. Tulips of various colors will embellish İstanbul from one end to the other. İstanbul will become a garden of tulips during the Second International Tulip Festival. The eight million planted tulips -- red, pink, blue, purple, yellow, orange and white -- will bloom at different intervals to make the event last longer."
