Tension is rising again between Turkey and the Kurds of northern Iraq over the issue of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in their region, accused by the Turkish military of being aided and abetted by the Iraqi Kurds, and over the issue of the oil rich city of Kirkuk, which the regional Kurdish government hopes will come under its administration after a referendum is held at the end of the year."
