New York/Ankara. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said the Cyprus issue is only of interest to the two communities on the island, but also to Europe, the Anatolian Agency reported. Kofi Annan gave his last press conference as a UN Secretary General. He stated that progress had been achieved and that the UN Special Envoy for Cyprus, Michael Moeller was putting efforts to create confidence between the two communities.
“When the right moment comes, we will appoint a mediator on the island. My successor Ban Ki-Moon will do that”, Annan added. "
