Terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan was captured in 1999 in a manner befitting a Hollywood movie before being delivered to Turkey. The effect of the capture showed itself immediately in Turkish political life. Two political parties nurtured by nationalist tendencies became government partners: the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the Democratic Left Party (DSP). And again in this period, the death penalty was lifted. "
