ANKARA - Turkish Daily News
Some villages and towns have all of a sudden become the in place. This year's trendy place is Alaçatı, a charming village in the Aegean. As the high society of Istanbul started going to and fro, this place went from being written up in local newspapers to national newspapers in a short time. Some reporters write about entertainment spots and some about gourmet restaurants. Hikmet Çetinkaya wrote in his Cumhuriyet column that this ancient Greek village became what it is today through the efforts of municipal official Remzi Özen. He also said the tourism boom in Alaçatı took place during the time of Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Muhittin Dalgıç, who was elected in 2004 and continued on Özen's path."
