"Turkish businessmen generate 35-billion-euro turnover in Europe last year
Turkish businessmen living in Europe realized a 35-billion-euro turnover in Europe last year.
European Turkish Businessmen Council Chairman Aziz Sahin said on Friday that Turkish businessmen employed 500,000 people in Europe. 'Turks are not a burden but an advantage for the EU,' Sahin said.
Sahin said that Turks occupied an important place in the European economy.
Sahin projected that Turkish businessmen would have a €100 billion turnover in Europe by 2010. 'The number of people employed by Turks in Europe will reach 1 million in the upcoming years.
Nearly 4 million Turks live in Europe, most of them in Germany. There are 1.18 million Turks working in EU countries and there are 73,200 Turkish entrepreneurs.
Turkey is scheduled to start accession talks with the EU on Oct 3 despite the recent tension between Turkey and the EU over Turkey's insistence on its non-recognition of the Greek Cypriot Administration."
