"The Turkish American community, in a gesture of welcome to survivors of Katrina, will donate a portion of the proceeds from this year's Turkish Festival to relief. A tent will be set up for the duration of the festival, Sept. 14-17, to receive donations for South Suburban PADS.
Survivors who are now staying at Tinley Park's State of Hope facility will visit the festival at the Daley Center Plaza on Sept. 17. Entertainment will include a fashion show of items from the Ottoman Empire, belly dancers, Turkish cuisine, carpets, classical and modern Turkish music, and folk dances."
