"Deal boosts Turkish hopes of EU talks
Turkey's hopes of beginning membership talks with the EU on time on October 3 have been boosted by an Anglo-French deal.
British diplomats say they hope the deal, which concerns Turkey's relations with Cyprus, will remove one of the main obstacles for talks whilst also allaying French fears about the accession process.
France had previously argued it was “inconceivable” to begin negotiations with Turkey whilst it refuses to recognise Cyprus diplomatically."
