Washington Jewish Week Online Edition:Correcting mistakes (Letter from Rachel Krespin)

"Correcting mistakes
I wish to correct some of the many misrepresentations and distortions in the article titled 'Turkish-Jewish ties focus of panel' (WJW, Dec. 23).
I did not, as the article stated, call 'on the Turkish government to condemn anti-Semitism,' but rather I called on the Turkish government 'to curb anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism in the media.'
I did not say 'Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was called a butcher by protesters when he arrived in Turkey last year.' (He has not visited Turkey in several years.) I said that some in the press 'transformed' his first name from 'Ariel' to 'butcher.' "
