[HH] Turkey presses for end to PKK: The continued presence of PKK militants in northern Iraq has been an irritant in relations between Turkey and the United States. Ankara has been pressing its NATO ally to take concrete steps to eliminate the group's presence since U.S. forces invaded Iraq in 2003. The PKK presence is also one of the main issues between Ankara and the Iraqi interim administration, but Turkey is aware of the deficiencies on the Iraqi side."
