The European Union (EU)'s opening of membership talks with Turkey later this year could provide a key chance to relaunch talks on reuniting Cyprus, the European Commission said Tuesday. EU enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn said that Europe should try to promote European forces in the northern Turkish-run part of the divided island in elections ahead of negotiations with Ankara, due to start in October. 'We have to see the opening of accession negociations with Turkey as a great window of opportunity to at the right time relaunch the talks on the reunification,' he told the European Parliament's foreign affairs committee. "
