BRUSSELS (AFP) - The European Union's executive arm unveiled a drive to inject new life into Europe's auto sector -- prompting cries of alarm at privileged support for a pivotal industry.
EU industry commissioner Guenter Verheugen said the 'Cars 21' initiative -- a high-level committee joined by government regulators and top industry officials -- would aim to cut red tape and put the sector in 'pole position'. "
