Should Turkey become a member of the European Union? This is now a topical, major and highly controversial subject. So that I don't sail under false colors I shall begin by giving my long-standing personal answer which is no. I do not regard Turkey as a European country and currently Turkish soldiers are occupying Northern Cyprus, which is part of a European Union country and a fellow member of the Commonwealth."
