"Turkey voices out its concerns over demographic engineering in Kirkuk
Ankara, 21 January - On the eve of the Iraqi elections, Turkey sent a sharp warning to Kurdish leaders in northern Iraq over attempts to turn Kirkuk into a Kurdish capital and assure control over the Kirkuk oil-fields. In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry claimed yesterday that hundreds of thousands of Kurdish settlers without any previous ties to the city have been brought into Kirkuk and denied the claims of the Kurdish leaders that they were merely reversing the eviction orders which had been handed out by the former Iraqi regime to Kurdish nationalist-separatist groups. "
