"Religion in Germany (or not) Installment #5 of Brent Martin's 'European Adventure' “Why is religion so important in America?” The question was posed by a German journalist as we sat drinking, he his beer and me my Coke, on a warm Sunday evening at a beer garden off a park in Berlin. It’s a tough question to answer, even though I was prepared for it. Missourinet News Director Bob Priddy, who participated in the RIAS Commission journalist exchange in 2001, had mentioned that a German journalist he had encountered asked him that question. There is a fascination in Germany about the role of religion in everyday life in America as well as in our politics."
