"Plassnik: EU working to lift Turkish Cypriot embargo

The European Union is working to lift the embargo imposed on Turkish Cypriots, said Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, on Friday.
Speaking to the Anatolia news agency ahead of an unofficial meeting of EU-West Balkans foreign ministers in Salzburg, Plassnik noted that the EU approved a direct aid regulation for the Turkish Cypriots and is working for the approval of a direct trade regulation, a statement to lessen Turkish and Turkish Cypriot criticisms over the EU's approval of a direct aid regulation by decoupling it from direct trade."
