The Orient Express, described by passenger Agatha Christie in her book 'Come, Tell Me How You Live,' as 'swaying, rattling and hurling one from side to side in its mad haste to leave Calais and the Occident,' still departs every evening from Paris with the fully modern cars used across Europe. Two restored lines catering to tourists are also available at a very high price, but it is at Sirkeci Station and the Pera Palace Hotel where the opulence of the past can truly be experienced today "
