"Vietnam : Turkey restricts textile-garment imports from Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

To protect the domestic textile and garment industries, Turkey will control imports of textile-garment products from Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, officials of the Ministry of Trade said.
The move stems out of fear of competition from China in particular, and even as Turkey currently exports around US $20 billion in apparel, mainly to the European Union (EU).
The new regulation proposed say textile-garment products from the aforementioned countries will be imported to Turkey after receiving export certification granted by the Turkish Foreign Trade Committee.
In 2003, Vietnam earned $1.7mil from textile-garment exports to Turkey and $894,000 in the first five months of 2004. "
